#8: No one is worth keeping in your life if they expect you to lose yourself to keep them.
If I’m willing to leave me for you then I have to ask myself why.
If you have to lose yourself to keep someone else in your life then they’re not worth keeping.
What does it profit a man if he gains the whole world but loses himself.
As you get older, settle that you won’t fight to keep people in your life who expect you to separate from yourself for their sake.
#9: There is nowhere to “arrive” to.
The only thing that you are rushing towards is death. Accomplishing goals is not success. How much you expand in the process is.
As I get older I’ve increasingly uncoupled from the hustle of ‘success’ and achievement and learned to be more present in the process.
Life isn’t about ‘arriving’ it’s about the process. I’ve sometimes called it, more building your yellow brick road, less focus on the wizard of Oz.
There’s nowhere to ‘arrive’ there’s only the story you create on the way & it’s enlargement of you.
#10: Happiness is not experiencing something new.
It’s continually experiencing what you already have in new and different ways.
We’ve often made happiness to do with new experiences, relationships and opportunities.
This cultivates the idea that happiness is linked to acquisition, but it’s not.
As you get older I want you to learn to appreciate & enjoy what you have in new & different ways.
The grass isn’t greener over there, it’s greener where you water it.
